A PAPER PINK TOWER

I am not a huge enthusiast of paperwork in the Montessori classroom. However, I did find practical uses for this Pink Tower paper:

Students can cut out the squares and piece together a paper Pink Tower to take home. My students loved the idea of giving lessons to moms, dads, or siblings.

 Materials:

- Paper Pink Tower template

- tape and plenty of patience

 Directions:

  1. Make six copies of the Pink Tower paper.
  2. Cut out the squares. (For the sake of time you may cut out the squares prior to giving them to the children).
  3. Show students how to arrange the squares into a lowercase "t".
  4. Tape the "t" together and then fold the sides into a cube. Tape the sides as needed.

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT CHICKEN EGGS?

My husband brought home some farm fresh eggs. A gift from his employer. When I opened the carton I was shocked to see green, blue and peach-colored eggs. After his employer confirmed that the eggs had not been colored, I set off to prepare a lesson.

FACT... There are more chickens on earth than there are people.

In this 6-minute video, fastdraw.com captivates viewers with amazing illustrations as Trevor Eissler reads a passage from his popular book Montessori Matters. It is perhaps one of the most inspiring Montessori videos ever made. If you have not read Trevor Eissler’s Montessori Matters, buy or borrow a copy. Then, in true Montessori fashion, "pay it forward" so someone else can be inspired as well.
